Payment Options

Let's make a couple of simple points first

First: Be Flexible

Second: Common Sense = Big Bucks

Third: Follow the Money

Be Flexible means: you have options for payment. Don't complcate it by listing all your options, just read the situation and offer a two options.

Common Sense: Sometimes when we get something 'new & different' [like a merchant account or Pro Pay] we offer that without asking for a check/cash. Just because you can take Credit Cards does not mean that you can't take cash. On the 4 sales Davene made last night she took 3 different froms of payment ~ cash, check and 2 charges.

Follow the Money: As a society we are in a 'transition' phase ~ people tend to want to pay the way they are used to ~ so by following their 'money trail' [re:how they like to pay], the sale is completed a familiar way for THEM. This is key to not losing a sale[s] at the end.

OK, 3 options for CCs

One: Merchant Account [we love this one] ~ easy to set up at a local bank - you get a box ~ IDENTICAL to what they are used to seeing. We love this because it is set up in the private consultation room. My experience in MLM & Sales is the MORE FAMILIAR people are with the process, the more likely they are to continue. Yes we pay a small monthly fee and a very small % of the sale ~ but ~ the simplicity and familiarity folks have with the process is 'priceless' ~ we just swipe the card, a reciept comes out and you're done with the sale and on the the real reason you are there ~ booking more classes. Money in account within hours. Very cool.

TWO - get a paypal account. They are free to set up and if they are paypal members AND use it regualrly [we use one all the time] ~ the 'familiarty factor is in your 'favor' again. Can't say it often enough: making it easy to pay in important ~ making it familiar will 'swing' a few folks from 'hesitating to completion' in a nono-second. They can pay without an account too. Obviously, this means you need a laptop or computer in the 'consult-room.' % paid on transaction, moeny is available in your paypal account right away, free to transfer it to your checking account, takes about 3-4 days to show up.

THIRD - Pay Pro ~ you can 'swipe' the card or get the information. Fees, transfer times etc pretty much like paypal. Much prefer 'swiping' the card as to getting information. Again, the 'familiar' thing.

We set the box [from merchant account] up so it is clear view when they sit down. After placing a kit that is 'pre-packaged' in a bag with their name on it in their lap, we simply ask, 'Is cash or charge better for you?' and we look down at the 'box'

Make it easy, familiar and have all the options. Once you start doing these on a regular basis, you'll not worry about the fees and focus on their 'comfort~buying' habits......KEY: the fees you pay are TAX deductable.....so keep track of them monthly.
